The popular opinion is familiar; rural youths are the new blood of agriculture. This is true but only to an extent. One sixth of our members is still working today in agriculture, so why, despite this, are we sticking up for farming and winegrowing? Because both branches create work and offer young people chances for the future. Not just traditionally through the production of food but also through the production of renewable resources and alternative sources of income. Additionally are the jobs that are involved in the pre- and post-production processes. But whoever makes their living in another way knows about the value of agriculture. That’s why we want to create perspectives and a future for these branches.

Living in the country has its own charms but also its problems. Long distances, a partly underdeveloped or comparatively badly-developed infrastructure, the decreasing numbers of inhabitants and an ageing population… these concern us too because we want to live in the country. It’s for this reason that we’re striving for ways in which to live and stay in rural areas. The keyword for us is regional development.

There’s one more thing we want; to motivate young farmers, winegrowers and those of you living in the country to confidently represent their/your own interests and stances, to get involved in political discussions in order to make an active contribution.
